Officially announced at the Made by Google 2018 event on October 9th 2018, theGoogle Pixel 3 Pixel 3 XL among the first phones available with Android 9.0 (Pie). Google's Pixel range has received critical acclaim for their photography prowess and this continues with the third generation of Pixel phones. A single 12.2MP camera lens goes against the recent trend for multiple lenses. Yet Google's unmatched software processing, combined with a custom "Visual Core" chip, delivers exceptional imagery that bursts with detail, even in challenging conditions.

Overall the physical designs of both phones have been improved, with a slimmer chassis and more subtle variations in colour. Pixel 3 has thinner bezels than 2018's Pixel 2. The Pixel 3 XL display features a 'notch' in the top so the screen extends into the corners of the handset. Wireless charging support is also included for the first time in a Pixel smartphone and Google's generous offer of unlimited storage for Google Photos taken with Pixel devices remains available.
